Mobile (Phone) Ministry Developer - Africa Area: South Africa

Mobile phones of different makes and models are widely used across Africa.

How about using your mobile phone expertise by joining a team that is seeking to make use of these opportunities.

Help create a variety of resources  that help to communicate the gospel and disciple the people of Africa through their phones.

  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Commitment Length: as long as possible (Full Time)

You will be part of a communications and media development team based in South Africa, serving the larger Africa area. You will need to be able to develop and shape this vital role

We are looking for someone with:

  • Good people skills
  • Good understanding of English
  • A willingness to learn and serve
  • A heart for Africa and world missions
  • Previous mobile development experience
  • Familiar with and able to work with appropriate software
  • Creativity and artistic skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Able to learn and adapt to African cultures with the ultimate aim of being able to communicate effectively to and about the people of Africa.

Main tasks are dependent on the individual person’s skills and gifting but may include:

  • Working  together with the media team to develop the resources which may include: apps for smartphones, applications that will work on dumb/feature phones, developing SMS systems, etc.
  • Researching, such as determining the phones people are using and how to best use these phones
  • Keeping track of current mobile developments 
  • Investigating and developing new projects.
  • Organising all aspects of a project to its completion
  • Connecting with missionaries in the field to understand their resource needs in the field
  • Using creative and out-of the-box thinking to develop new projects that will bring transformation in lives and communities
