Refugee projects: site coordinator: Greece

The refugee situation is no longer headline news, but for the people involved the situation has changed very little.  Thousands of men women and children are still in Greece, in camps or transitioning into homes, with less support than before. OM Greece is working in several locations, offering practical help and social care. As we prayerfully develop our longer term ministry, we need 4 people to be consistent presences on the different sites.

  • Start Date: Fri 01 Sep 2017
  • Commitment Length: 6-12 months (Full Time)

1. coordinator #1 at the community centre where OM does relational ministries
2. coordinator #2 at a downtown relief ministry based out of a local church
3. coordinators #3 and #4 – at two refugee camps, where OM is working with the children

The coordinators will work under the oversite of the project manager, to develop the ministry, oversee the OMers working in each location, and updating the team as to the needs and changes of the ministry.
We are looking for people who are:
Called to work with refugees
Practical and hands-on
Organised
Able to stay calm in stressful situations
Adaptable, unflustered by unexpected changes
Clear communicators
Passionate about the gospel, but mindful about appropriate ways to share it
A drivers licence is very helpful (though not essential)
Fluent English speaker
Able to lead/coordinate a team
Previous experience working with arab/muslim peoples is helpful, as is Farsi/Dari/Arabic language skills, though they are not essential
Men are especially needed for these ministries!

All members of OM Greece are required to study Greek as part of their work hours, and to take part in the wider activities of the team when opportunities arise.

Please note: all jobs/opportunities on this site are unsalaried. Most people joining OM have to raise financial support to cover their living expenses, usually through gifts from home churches and other supporters.
